The Dicle Bridge is locally called "Ongözlü Köprü" – the Ten-Eyed Bridge – after its ten arches. Commissioned during the Marwanid era, it was completed in 1065, according to the inscription on its southern façade.
Built from black volcanic basalt and 178 metres long, it crosses the Tigris about 3 km south of the Mardin Gate. With tea gardens along the riverbank, it is the city's favourite place to watch the sunset.
Concierge tipArrive about an hour before sunset, walk across the bridge, then relax at one of the riverside tea gardens.
